In her thesis titled Hasta La Raiz / To The Root, Hendrix, created portraits, still life’s and landscapes to link the themes of labor and privilege to narrate her history through a visual form. Here she takes a closer look at the idea of labor by interrogating the perceived value of labor as she links the painter’s hands with the laborer to show the precarity of both forms of labor in regard to job and financial precarity.
